Decor: Nice, Meal: Flavorless

I'm new to Atlanta and visited Spoon this past weekend (2/13/10) for a early Valentines dinner. I was excited to go because I loved Thai and the reviews were decent. The Decor was very nice. However the restaurant was so small it was the size of my family room & kitchen. The tables were on top of each other. A wide person would NOT be able to fit between the seats they shoved as many together as they could to create seating. I heard EVERYTHING the people beside me on my left & right were saying.... On to the food. I was very disappointed. The Calamari appetizer was so heavily breaded it was like eating fried flour. Not Squid. My Fiance ordered the seafood Pad-Thai BAD CHOICE. I love Pad Thai So I was very disappointed when his tasted like a sweet & sour Noodle. The seafood was not seasoned and the sauce was terrible. I'm not sure how a THAI restaurant could mess up Pad-Thai! I ordered the Prawns they were HUGE looked like 2 big lobsters I couldn't wait to tast. The Panang Curry sauce was excellent. However the Prawns were over cooked and rubbery. They too were not seasoned under the shell. And the Head was still on my prawns, this was no aesthetically appealling. The staff was great & attentive. IOverall, would not return. The food has to win me over Not just nice decor and a friendly waitress. I'm back on my prowl for good Thai in Atlanta.
