Do not ever get in a Mercantile Cab (they are gray). We were charged $65.00 to go 5.7 miles (from the Sheraton to Steve and Cookies By the Bay in Margate, NJ). The driver told us that only 3 people were allowed in the cab so 1 of us was riding free and the cost would be $65.00! We immediately argued with the driver. We told him that we'd been told it would cost around $20 to go that distance. We were hostages in his cab and didn't know what to do. He told us the ride back would be cheaper because it would be a different cab company. He talked about the high cost of overhead in AC, etc. We did call and complain but we didn't have the cab number. I'm sure that the company could have easily found out which of their drivers was in Margate, NJ, about that time of the evening. We were promised a call back but of course, none was received. Just stay clear of the gray cabs! At least one of their drivers is a thief!!!!!
