The other week I stopped at Walmart in Attalla , Alabama . I have shopped here many times before .
Lately the store's policy on printable and newspaper coupons had taken a rather customer unfriendly turn . Most cashiers don't seem to want to take them or haven't been trained on what they are . Don't get me started on the self checkouts . I despise them . They waste my time . Usually end up having to get an employee to correct a machine problem . Machines can't seem to scan the bar codes on the coupons or if you readjust an item in the bag after placing it in a bag , the machine stops.
During my shopping trip , I walked thru the produce section . A lot of their fruit and produce are nice . This particular day I went by the sweet corn display bin . The bin was out in the middle of the store not in the produce cooling display . There was probably 15 or 20 dozen ears of corn on display . All the ears of the corn were covered with " Brown Husks " . The kernels of corn were so dry that you could have shelled the ears . If you had cooked the corn you probably would have broken a tooth trying to eat it . You could have fed it to your cows or pigs , but it was not fit for human consumption . As a former farmer having grown sweet corn for the retail market it would have shamed me to offer this to a customer .
If you are going to have a produce department at least have fresh produce .
I hope seeing some of my pet peeves with this store will help you to correct this .
