The Wood River Fire Protection District, doing business as Wood River Fire and Rescue-WRFR, provides fire protection and emergency services. Founded in 1974, the district employs several full-time personnel and nearly 20 paid-call employees, including captains, lieutenants and firefighters. It is governed by a board of fire commissioners and maintains a fleet of ladders, water tenders and ambulances. Wood River Fire and Rescue-WRFR offers public safety educational and fire prevention, inspection and suppression services. The District provides emergency medical transport service for Bellevue, Gannett and Carey counties in Idaho. It organizes fire drills and rescue training sessions. Wood River Fire and Rescue-WRFR is located in Hailey, Idaho.
