The Auburn Police Department is a law enforcement agency that maintains law and order and protects residents lives and their property. It operates patrol and K-9 units, as well as maintains an Emergency Response Team (E.R.T) that resolves critical incidents. In addition, the team executes violent felony, parole and drug search warrants, as well as handles barricaded gunman and hostage situations. The Auburn Police Department s detective bureau has a central investigation division that undertakes cases of homicide, robbery, sexual assault, burglary and theft. Its narcotics division investigates and combats the illegal distribution of drugs in Auburn, N.Y. It supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) program, which focuses on the prevention of illegal usage of drugs, gang activities and violent behavior.
