You Don't Want to Live Here

My husband and I moved here in June, and since that time we've constantly had problems with our electricity. Our power goes out in the master bathroom, master closet, the switched outlet in the master bedroom goes out, and the power outlet in the guest bathroom goes out. So, while we at least have lights in one bathroom, there aren't any outlets to power anything. We have gone around and around with the management here who has done a terrible job handling the situation, and we are now in our SEVENTH service call about this. Our power often dies on the weekends, and even though we've called emergency maintenance, they put us off until Monday morning. Who knows what the root of the problem is and if the place will burn down in the night. Unless you enjoy taking showers by flashlight, we don't recommended it.

We've also had problems about timely responses to leaking toilets, insects, and the parking situation. You are allowed one parking space per unit that is actually close to the building. Visitors are constantly taking up these spots and leaving you to park a good distance away. Our front door doesn't close well either, and you actually have to turn the dead bolt to really get the door to shut -- which makes me uncomfortable when I'm home alone.

In short, the building is ~30 years old in desperate need of serious repair, and management is frustratingly irresponsible. Almost anywhere else would be a better choice.

The electrical problem was handled by an outside contractor within a timely manner. Some residents want to purchase a home and will find reasons to break their lease with no penalties. Our maintenance staff has a great reputation.
