Great dentist but horrible business practice.



My wife and I went in for exams and cleanings which were were told were covered 100% by our insurance. The hygienists were friendly and did a good job. I had to go back to get 2 fillings and was told the cost of the fillings was $125 so I scheduled the appointment.



Once again at the appointment I asked the cost and they said they spoke with the insurance company and said $125. I got the fillings and paid the $125 when I left.



Color me surprised when I get a bill 2 weeks later saying we owe $200 for the visits. I spoke with the insurance company and they explained that the x-rays that were done were not the type that were 100% covered so they ended up costing $61 for my exam and $61 for my wife. In addition the price they quoted for the fillings was wrong too, they based it on amalgam fillings which they don't even do!! In addition the insurance company said they had no record of Dr. Auger's office calling them to see about the coverage.



Needless to say I am not going back there since they can't seem to be honest about the cost of the exams. It is disappointing because the dentists and hygienists did such a good job.

The office was clean and new, and the support staff was very nice. After our exams (i and my husband had gone in for cleanings) the doctor came out and told both my husband and I that we needed very expensive procedures before he'd even do the routine cleaning, and these procedures weren't counted as preventative on our insurrance. He refused to give either of us a routine cleaning until after, and ate up our exam and x-ray dollars that were covered for the period. I told him that I was going to need a second opinion before I scheduled any more appointments. At this time, Dr. Auger became very deffensive and incredibly rude, and actually raised his voice to me. I signed a release before I left to have the x-rays sent to my house, which then took three phone calls and six weeks (it's done digitally in office and they just needed to print and send a copy). When I finally recieved our x-rays and paid out of pocket for my second opinion exam, the next dentist said there was no need for the expensive procedure(s) that Dr. Auger had recommended, and gave both of us our cleanings that day. Will never return - this guy seems like a hot-headed quack that's cusioning his pockets!
