Anatoli F. Karas, MD, is a Chicago-area native specializing in pediatric otolaryngology. Her passion for music and musical theater is what attracted her to otolaryngology, and while she completed her pre-medical requisites, she also earned her bachelor’s degree in music from Franklin and Marshall College. She pursued her medical training at Rush Medical College, after which she did her residency at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She completed her specialty training in pediatric otolaryngology at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham.
Karas is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology and serves on the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Pediatric Otolaryngology Education Committee. Her research interests include pediatric airway and aerodigestive disorders, including vocal cold paralysis, laryngeal cleft and dysphagia. She is the recipient of the J.D. Siefker, MD, Resident Teaching and Leadership award from Duke University.
While her practice includes the breadth of pediatric otolaryngology, her specific clinical interests include congenital head and neck masses, vascular anomalies, salivary gland disease, chronic ear disease and hearing loss, and endoscopic and open airway surgeries. She enjoys collaborating with providers and specialists in pulmonary medicine, gastroenterology, sleep medicine, critical care and other pediatric specialties to provide the best and most comprehensive care for each patient. This collaboration occurs on a day-to-day basis but also in specific multidisciplinary clinics such as the Pediatric Aerodigestive Program and the Rush Craniofacial Clinic.
