The Aurora Central Fire Department provides fire suppression and rescue services to the city of Aurora, Ill. The department is a division of the city s government. It provides mitigation of and recovery from a variety of conditions that adversely threaten the safety of the public. The department s primary operations consist of confining and extinguishing various types of fires. As an extension of the department s rescue services, it also provides pre-hospital, emergency medical care. In addition, it controls spills and incidents involving hazardous materials, performs on-site safety inspections of buildings to ensure structures meet safety codes and participates in campaigns for community awareness regarding fire safety. The department operates more than 10 stations throughout the city.
