This not the place if you want your child to be treated with kindness. My daughter took both parent tot and white level intro classes. My daughter is diagnosed speech delay. During a lesson several weeks ago class ended early with her crying and I was told she puked in the pool. Subsequently she started refusing to bathe, having nightmares and screaming "no swim" and "don't want want wash face. Scared" when I went into her room. She was having meltdowns with crying and shaking when we drove near the swim building. I emailed and called for 6 days asking for answers. I was not given any answers via email and was only called during my work hours when I stated I was unavailable. When I finally got a hold of the general manager after a week I was told that submersion is part of the curriculum and my feedback was neglected with statements such as "we are short staffed and the person who was supposed to mark your child as having a speech delay in the roster resigned after five days" and "sorry you feel that way." I understand that her instructor has 15 years of experience and has previously worked with kids with disabilities but she was not notified about my child's speech delay. I was not able to get an answer as to how they obtain consent from a child before submerging them or how they might work around water task refusal and anxiety with children. This instructor made a poor choice which now has resulted in intense fear and anxiety with my daughter due to submerging her. All I wanted was a genuine apology and to know that things will be done differently next time but I was not afforded that. Instead the general manager largely focused on staffing shortages and blamed those. I do feel like the instructor perhaps was genuinely remorseful about the incident but it was the attitude of the general manager which ultimately did it for me. If you're looking for a place that is child centered this is not it.

I agree forget the park district programs. We wasted a ton of money over multiple summers and then came here and my oldest learned to swim within a few weeks. The facility and water are always sparkling. Superb make-up policy. Instructors are great. We recommend Jennifer and Hannika.

AMAZING STAFF, LOVING ENVIROMENT & LEARNED ALOT!

The staff is all excited to actully be working, and to help out any questions that might be needed. All staff is out of highschool and extremely nice and helpful and can answer anything, or extremely mature highschool students with a great personality, love for children, and alot of swim experience. The staff has much patience, and has a love for what they are doing, and my children actually look foward to swim lessons.

This place is dangerous, the customer is always wrong

I brought my kids here to learn swimming a few years back and loved it. Fast forward to 2011...this place has gone downhill. Instructors are mean and rude and their appears to be a lack of supervision on the pool deck. I saw at least 2 kids almost drown the 2 times weve been back. I tried to register a formal complaint at the front desk but didn't realize Id have to deal with immature high school kids with absolutely no cusstomer service skills. Granted they have a lot of high school employees, but given the bad economy I'm sure they could get some experienced customer service associates. 3 days later I recieved a phone call from a female manager and the immaturity was even worse than the front desk staff. It's either their way or the high way. When I asked for a refund I was charged $25 despite being told when registering that the fee was never actually applied. All in all a bad experience. Sad to see this place go so far downhill in a few years. Try Bear Paddle much bettr

Great Experience

My child was terrified of the water. I've actually been putting off signing up for swim classes because he's so afraid of water...needless to say, bath time is not something to look forward to in our house. My friend referred me here, and I've had a awesome experience so far. The teachers are really friendly, and the water is really warm. I really like the fact that I can cancel a lesson when something comes up, and still make the class up for free. My son has made huge strides here, and he actually looks forward to a bath at home now!

Enroll at your kids risk

Management treats customers as expendable and if you get into any issue with what their instructor does, they will not support you. The instructor dunked my 4 year old son 3 times during a lesson and shouted at him for not listening. We complained but management did not want to do anything and denied it happened the way we saw it. They will go as far as saying they don't have a video record when they have video cameras all over the pool area just to avoid reviewing. All we asked was an apology from the swim instructor and they couldn't do that for a paying customer. We asked for a refund and they charged us $25 as refund fee. Very anti-consumer, don't know how to treat kids, enroll at your own risk

High Quality Swim Lessons

Forget the YMCA and Park District Programs. My kids actually learned how to swim here. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the facility is clean.
