THESE GUYS ARE FRAUDS AND CON MEN!!! STAY AWAY! THIS EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN AN ABSURD NIGHTMARE! I hired Vertex Restoration to replace my roof, gutters, and install three exterior doors with two storm doors and a small section of siding.

-What should have been a couple days' worth of work took over 3 months

-They voluntarily abandoned the project altogether and left it unfinished, with construction debris laying all over my property.

-THEY SENT A HOMELESS GUY AND HIS GIRLFRIEND, WHO THEY FOUND ON CRAIGS LIST, TO WORK ON MY HOUSE. Instead of sending professionals, they sent a guy who admitted he was found on Craig's List and had never met the owner or anyone at Vertex in-person. He also admitted he was “between homes” at the moment. And this guy had his girlfriend performing work, who I’m sure wasn’t on the payroll, and had zero qualifications.

-They damaged and destroyed all my doors and materials, and other parts of my property. They removed the exterior siding and frame without my authorization.

-They incorrectly installed the doors and did not waterproof. I now have water seeping through the door frame; since it was not caulked and no flashing was installed.

-They reused and reinstalled old material on the roof instead of replacing new, per the quote/ agreement. They reinstalled old chimney vents, drip apron around gutters, and old flashing. The old material is rusted, and they left many of the old screw holes unscrewed, unsealed and exposed.

-Additionally, he left the cap off the b-vent, during snowy weather, which I only discovered through a home inspection weeks later—obstruction from snow or debris can cause BACKUP IN CARBON MONOXIDE INTO YOUR HOME. They left the old, rusty cap in my lawn and never picked it up.

-one of my gutters is leaking badly

-they smeared paint on my door step; and left caulk smeared all over the door trim.

-They cut and installed all the trim incorrectly

-cut the wood corner board for the siding extremely crooked, left it unpainted

- the exterior lights were not wired properly, they do not turn on

-They left my garage door opener unattached for weeks, leaving me no ability to open my garage door. They never reinstalled the door opener keypad.

-they left nails all all around my property. I got a flat tire, my wife stepped on a nail, and my dog stepped on a nail. I have bags full of nails that we cleaned up ourselves.

-The roofers never cleared a walkway from our front entrance through the driveway—they barricaded my wife in child inside our home; and forced them to walk through construction debris and exposed rusty nails.

I now refuse to pay the remaining balance since literally nothing was performed correctly, much of my property was in fact DAMAGED, and he VOLUNTARILY ABANDONED THE PROJECT. Like a true fraud and criminal, he has extorted me by threatening to put a lien on my house.

I question their ability be allowed to remain in business in this State and am taking up the matter with the IL State Attorney General’s office.
