Saved our kitty

We got our cat (a "rescue" from a local organization) not knowing that he was infected with herpes. He had had one eye removed before we got him, but we were told that he was in fine health. However, his remaining eye started oozing green stuff and he was sneezing like crazy. After 3 visits to our general vet, and a bunch of medications, they told us that he might have herpes and that his outlook was not good. They said we might have to keep him on antiretrovirals (meaning he'd be too expensive for us to keep) or he might go blind and cats don't do well blind. They referred us to Dr. Schifrin at Austin Animal Eye Clinic, and he was SO good with our cat. He outlined a treatment plan that would keep the herpes under control and it was cheap enough for us to manage. His prices were also VERY reasonable, especially considering that he's a specialist. The doctors at this clinic have binders full of letters from grateful clients--we wouldn't bring our cat anywhere else now.
