On April 30 of this year I purchased a refrigerator from the Austin, Texas store. The refrigerator was delivered on May 17, 2013. This product was defective, splattered with paint, dented in the back, with scratches and glue on the top of the freezer. We notified DirectBuy and after multiple attempts we received a new refrigerator on June 21, 2013. This unit was defective. The freezer door would not fit and would not close. After several weeks of requesting action A Direct Buy representative came out around July 18 and inspected the unit. He verified that it was defective after only a few minute review. They then promised us a full refund and retrieval of the second refrigerator. It has now been over four weeks since that promise and we have not heard from you or any of your representatives. The people in the local, Austin, store refuse to respond to any messages.

DO NOT PURCASE ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE

I disagree with the person who left this review. I have bought numerous items from beds, to refrigerators, to furniture and I have saved well over my membership 10x's in only this 2 years. I hope anyone that is thinking about changing the way they spend their money especially in this economy will see why we should buy the direct way and not pay retail markup. More and more manufactures are seeing the benefits to working with DirectBuy and I can get virtually anything from the manufacturer not just the limited line a retail store my have on hand.

Too good to be true?

To consumers, Direct Buy's business model sounds too good to be true. And, it is.



Here's the deal. You buy a "membership" and then you're allowed to buy at "direct, wholesale" prices. Well, the manufacturers aren't going to bite the hands that feed them: their retailers. The items you buy at DB will either NOT be identical to those you find at retail outlets, and/or by the time you pay shipping and handling charges, PLUS those pesky DB "membership fees", you won't be saving much, if at all.



Finally, if this is such a great idea, why doesn't DB put all retailers out of business? Because, the selection is EXTREMELY limited. They simply can't offer every product from every manufacturer.
