Provided by YP.comThe owner of Hoover's is actually a trained chef who was born and raised in East Austin, left home to pursue his culinary career, and came back to his stomping grounds to open his own restaurant. I wouldn't say that the food is spectacular, but it's good solid home cooking and the ambiance is very casual and family friendly. It's been so long since I've been there so I can't remember any specific dishes I've had, but I do remember liking everything I've ever had there. The main dining room is a large room so they can accommodate large parties pretty easily. It's my understanding that the smothered pork chops are supposed to be the bomb with the recipe being passed down from the owner's mother.
