The Texas Juvenile Probation Commission, created in 1981, by the Texas legislature works to make probation services available to juveniles throughout the state. It also provides alternatives to the commitment of juveniles by providing financial aid to juvenile boards to establish and improve probation services. The commission promotes delinquency prevention and early intervention programs and activities for juveniles. Located in Austin, Texas, the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission works in partnership with local boards and probation departments to improve the services offered to juveniles. It provides funding, technical assistance and training; establishes and enforces standards; collects, analyzes and disseminates information; and facilitates communication between state and local entities. The Texas Juvenile Probation Commission supports various community-based, family-oriented programs that emphasis on prevention, early intervention and rehabilitative measures, as well as maximizes family participation and accountability.
