I am writing to give an outstanding review to a jewel of a store called "Village Art & Frame Gallery" which can be found in the heart of Babylon Village. I have purchased several pieces of original artwork as well as having several other pieces framed. Not only is the staff at Village Art and Frame extremely knowledgeable and professional but they are personable and are willing to share their knowledge and expertise with you. Jon the proprietor of the store is always accessible and will always take time out of his busy day to answer all your questions. Carolann is an extraordinary artist who has an eye for the right matting and framing. I recently purchased a Markee Sullivan Floral which Carol Ann helped me matt and frame. The frame she selected is a work of art in itself. It consists of vines, branches and berries. It matches the chandelier in my new home to perfection. And last but not least is Karen who is really the unsung hero of Village Art and Frame. She works sil

I had a very specific image in my head of what I was looking for to frame 2 pieces and after going to a few places, was almost resigned to the fact that what I wanted didn't exist. I stopped in to Village Art & Frame Gallery on the recommendation of a friend and I am so happy I did. They had EXACTLY what I was looking for and they were wonderful to work with. I had a painting my mom did when she was 9 years old framed as well as a vest my great grandmother made almost 100 years ago when she was a teenager. I received them today and they could not have been more beautiful. They exceeded my expectations in everyday. I cried when I opened them.

This local shop does a great job with art work. At first when I went in and got a quote my jaw nearly dropped. Afterwards I took a smaller piece to Michael's, thinking it would be cheaper, and Michaels wanted to charge nearly $600 for the work, which I imagine would have been less quality wood. Anyway - this place is a good bet for quality and makes me happy to support local business.

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience.

The individual who measured the frame, who it turns out is the owner, was OBNOXIOUS. He made a big deal of measuring the simple canvas, 18" x 24", explaining my measurements weren't accurate enough. When the frame showed up two weeks later, it was 3/16" over-sized on every side! I had to shim it to make the artwork sit properly.

Worse, it was the WRONG FRAME MATERIAL! He wrote out the order tag so sloppy, the wrong material came in. I selected a modern frame profile with metallic black finish, and got a old-fashioned brown frame profile with a distressed finish. The exact opposite of what I selected. Of course, the one I got was a cheaper selection.

Almost $100 for the wrong frame, poorly-sized, after talking to an obnoxious jerk, and it took two weeks. He didn't even install the artwork! That price was for the frame only. I installed the canvas myself.

Since then, I went to that frame place in the Village of Patchogue on Montauk Highway. Patchogue Picture frame I think it was? It was a little over half the price, a much nicer frame, it fit like a glove, and the woman who helped me there, the owner, was polite and professional. She provided a frame in under a week.

Village Art & Frame? It is hard from me to imagine having a worse experience. Over-paying even while you're treated like garbage and getting an inferior product. Try elsewhere.
