Bainbridge Island Park and Recreation District has been serving the community by providing recreational and cultural programs for more than 40 years. The district is governed by a Park and Recreation Commission consisting of five members. The district is committed to providing a wide variety of leisure programs for all ages and interest groups, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The park district works in partnership with nonprofit agencies, such as the Bainbridge Island Land Trust and the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation. Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District maintains and operates more than 1,400-acres of developed and undeveloped parkland on Bainbridge Island. The district offers various programs, including aquatics, cultural arts, gymnastics, sports, a teen center and special events. The programs include swimming, diving, water exercise, sailing, kayaking, scuba, classes and workshops in music, dance, yoga, fine arts, crafts and cooking.
