This hospital is terrible! On a schedule of 1-10, this hospital is a "1.6".
Corey Bernard is a current patient and has been there for the past week. They took him off all of his pain and psychiatric medicines, including a crucial pain medicine that he has been on for 15 years -- they aren't giving it to him. They said that they didn't have a list of his medications from the hospital he came from. He just had back surgery and can't walk for more than 2 minutes because of the pain. (His back surgery was done at Doctors Hospital in Modesto). Because of his injury, he needs assistance when he showers, and was told they won't help him: "That's not what we do. You've taken showers by yourself all of your life, you can do it by yourself now." His back was broken in a recent accident. He had surgery 2 weeks ago. He was supposed to go to another inpatient institution for care of his back, and afterward transfer to a mental hospital; but, instead of healing his back first, he was sent to Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (#BBHH”).
Because of his injury, he can't bend his back to wash himself. He asked for help, but they wouldn’t help him. So he has fallen twice, causing more injury to his back. He should have sent him to ER to see what damage was done -- but they didn't. When he needs pain medicine, BBHH only gives him Tylenol!!! In the hospital his surgery was done, they had him on Oxycondone -- the pain was that bad -- so why is BBHH only giving him Tylenol while they know it isn't of any help. So Corey is in severe pain and suffering. When he has asked a nurse for help, they brush him off and say that the next shift of nurses will see him. But they don't. It took them 2 days after the last fall to put a "at risk of falling" band on his arm. They have only just now (after a week) given him a wheelchair, so at least now he can go to the cafeteria to finally eat now. If this mental hospital cannot practice the best medicine and take care of its patients, they should pay the maximum fines for negligence, mistreatment, danger, and harm done to their patients. When he was broufghr to the hospital, they made him wait for 9 hours, on a plastic chaiem before they finally put him in a room. This hospital is terrible.

If this mental hospital cannot practice excellent medicine and take care of its patients, they should pay the maximum fines for negligence, mistreatment, danger, and harm done to their patients. Mental hospitals should answer to a new system in the State of California that will not enable more bad care in mental hospitals.
