In operation for more than four years, Independence Elementary School has an enrollment of over 600 students in kindergarten through grade six. Its academic curriculum includes language arts, science, math, social studies and physical education. The school also organizes a variety of extracurricular programs for the development of students. In addition, Independence Elementary School provides the Artist-in-Resident program for students who have interest in fine arts. It has a parent-teacher club that coordinates in various school-related activities and raises funds for the school. Located in Bakersfield, Calif., the school is a part of the Rosedale Union School District, which was established in 1890. The district provides educational programs to nearly 5,000 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
