AC and fan quit working. Called a well known chain department store. Their tech came out, never checked the compressor or unit in the attic, did a wattage use survey, assumed we needed an entire new system, quoted $11,000. Next called a well known local AC business. They came out, checked the compressor, said it was toast, then went into the attic, checked the unit, made no comment, quoted me $7,900 for a new system. Called McKenney's and spoke with Dave. Explained my problem and asked what a new system would cost. He said wait a minute, lets find out what's wrong before talking about a new system. His tech came out, confirmed the compressor was shot, went into the attic, and said did you know the access door to the unit was open? I said no, he then advised the fan wouldn't work with the door open. He closed it and the fan worked fine. (see second contractor above) McKenney's installed a new efficient compressor with an upgrade to the attic system to use the new compressor. Cost was less than a third of the next cheapest quote. McKenney's is honest, professional, responsive, and won't try to shaft you like two other companies I dealt with. Highly recommend!!
