The city manages a housing department that assists low- and moderate-income communities in the areas of residential rehabilitation, economic development, capital improvements and homeownership opportunities. Its public works department handles new construction, addition and remodeling projects, as well as issues permits for the installation of advertisement and display signs. The city of Irwindale manages the Irwindale Senior Citizen Center.
