I have lived in St. Louis for 3 years, and Nippon Tei is the first sushi place I tried. My fiance and I have tried 3 other places that friends (Native to St. Louis) recommended as the best, but we have never been as impressed as we are with Nippon Tei. We've been there MANY times for lunch as I used to work right down the road and MANY times for dinner since it is our favorite spot. I have always had very courteous, prompt service, generous portions and to top if off, their price is reasonable. Their setup for good service is great, with one individual filling water glasses and providing complementary edamame in the evenings. The food there has always been consistent and very good. They must be a good place to work because there are a few employees (at least 3) that have been there since I started visiting 3 years ago. On Friday and Saturday nights it is best to call ahead for a reservation in order to be seated promptly, calling ahead 30-60 minutes will do the trick. I take the fact that they are busy as a good sign, they have a lot of repeat business! I don't mind having to call ahead to get in quickly because I know I will have a good experience at Nippon Tei!
