Churches that are involved in Session Eight include Brenham, Cavitt St (Bryan), Jersey Village (Houston), Buckshot Ln (Magnolia), Liberty, Clear Lake (Houston), Deer Park, Price Road (Brownsville), and Woodlawn (in Ablilene). All staff members at Camp Bandina are volunteers. Each is also an active member of a congregation of churches of Christ, most being from one of the congregations listed here. Each year the organizing committee made up of representatives from the different involved churches select a "theme". Camping activities and Bible classes are developed around that theme. Each day campers will participate in two Bible classes and two periods of worship. There will also be other opportunities for devotion, praise and prayer. Each day there is one hour of organized sports. During the afternoons the campers have the option to spend time in crafts, sports, swimming and other games. The camp "store" offers campers extra candy, snacks and soft drinks. The camp kitchen provides campers with three great meals each day. Camp Bandina maintains a "nursing station" with a qualified nursing staff. According to State of Texas regulation, an agreement is kept with a local doctor and hospital for medical needs. The camp provides emergency medical insurance for all campers and staff. In 2010, we were blessed with 314 campers and 83 volunteer staff members. Campers are housed by age groups. The younger age groups have ten campers and two counselors, the older age groups may have up to 22 campers with three counselors in a cabin. Bible classes are also grouped by age groups. Sports activities are divided into three groups: elementary, middle school, and high school. Campers are kept together during song and praise times, however they are sometimes separated for "lesson" times into two groups, youth and teens.
