GO TO ISLAND AUTO! They are, hands down, the best auto repair on the island. When I moved to Bar Harbor for school, I was having loads of issues with my car. I called a few mechanics and was blown away at how high their prices were! I made an appointment with one of them but left feeling totally ripped off (very high price for very little work). Then I found Island Auto (sigh of relief). I was there A LOT with my car problems and it was always a good experience. Their prices are the BEST on the island and they worked with my schedule. They are honest and reasonable; Chris and Les made me feel like family. I can't say enough about them! I am sad to be leaving the island. They are the best mechanics I have ever had....

A few weeks ago my family and I were vacationing in Bar Harbor and we had brake trouble with our truck that required us to be towed to a local service station. I asked AAA for the closest service station and when MDI towing (great company as well!!) showed up to tow my truck the driver recommended Island Auto Repair. The only problem was Instead of being towed 2 miles I would have to be towed 10 but he said it would be worth it. He was absolutely right! Being a tourist I didn't know about the many occasions where tourists were charged double and triple the "market" price for a repair by local service stations (Look for yourself by googling Bar Harbor auto repair reviews). Les Foss and his folks were outstanding. He had my parts ordered, delivered and installed within a couple of hours and his charge was much less than what I expected. If you are looking for a top rate auto repair company, that does quality, reputable work, go no further than Island Auto Repair! While you are waiting for your car to be fixed walk around the corner to the American Brewing Company for a tour/sampling and have an awesome pulled pork sandwich and a blueberry ale at Mainely Meat BBQ, which is next to the brewery.
