The Stephen Foster Story is a two-hour, broadway-style show centered around the music of one of America's first recognized composers, Stephen Collins Foster. The performance takes place in My Old Kentucky Home State Park at the J. Dan Talbot Amphitheatre in Bardstown, KY. The grounds on which the theatre lies once belonged to the Rowan family, who were cousins of Stephen Foster, also home to the plantation house that inspired the state song, Federal Hill. Some of Foster's biggest hits, such as Oh! Susannah, Camptown Races, Old Folks at Home, & My Old Kentucky Home help tell the era's story, including the hardships and horrors the enslaved people lived through. The Stephen Foster Story is a two-hour, broadway-style show centered around the music of one of America's first recognized composers, Stephen Collins Foster. Outdoor drama depicting the story of this famous composer. Of course, it's entertaining to hear the songs he's most noted for, but I did find the production to drag a bit. Something you would only need to do once.
