Steak House Restaurant
1239 Us Route 302, Barre, VT 05641
"Our History" In 1950 Samuel Palmisano bought land on the Barre-Montpelier Road and built a restaurant called "Sam's Hot Shoppe." Specializing in home-made pizzas and grinders, it was managed by Mr. Palmisano's eldest son, Anthony. In 1959 Anthony moved to southeast Vermont to open and operate restaurants in White River and Lebanon, N.H. Meanwhile, "Sam's Hot Shoppe" was leased by the late Joseph Perreault. Taking advantage of the current "15 cent hamburger" craze, Mr. Perreault changed "Sam's" into a fast-food restaurant. In 1968 Anthony and his wife Jean returned to this area and purchased the property which had become "The Haven". Renovations began, using ideas Jean and Anthony brought from their extensive travels around the country. Thus, in 1972 the lovely restaurant you are now dining in evolved. It opened featuring char-broiled steaks, fresh seafood and the areas first salad bar. Its brought a unique design and rustic atmosphere to the Central Vermont area. After Tony's death in 1974 the business was managed by his son, Thomas and a daughter, Toni, carrying on the tradition of fine dining, superb service and innovative decor. Today, after three decades, this latest generation of Palmisanos proudly welcomes you to "The Steak House"

Provided by YP.comMy husband and I have been going to the Steakhouse Restuarant for 32 years..
Here are the reasons why:
1.The food is great!
2. The servers are all friendly and well dressed. They all know our names and make us feel very welcome. To us, service is the most important. They make us feel very special. They are all conscientious and seem like you are the only table they have. Their attentiveness goes above and beyond any other restaurant we have ever been to.
3: Clean: I left my purse there one night- When I went to get it the next morning, I had to go to the kitchen. I couldn't believe how spotless it was. The floor was spic and span. The grill and range were sparkling clean.
4. Management: The owners have been in business for years. They are always marketing themselves to make any organization feel totally comfortable to have functions there.
5. I can't say enough about all the owners and staff. They always make us feel special. After 32 years, and many restaurants, the Steakhouse Restaurant will always be our favorite. Here's to another 32 years.

Provided by YP.comLet me start by saying that the different map searches make it difficult to find your way here. My suggestion is to call ahead for directions or use their web site. The staff and service is great. If you like salad bars you won't want to miss this one. The Steak I had was very good. A little under cooked but when I mentioned it to the waitress it was returned to me after just a few minutes just the way I liked it. The dessert bar covered the basics but after 2 trips to the salad bar and my dinner it was all that I needed. Will return again. P.S. Make sure you try the chili on the salad bar!!
