Called to dispute insurance discrepancy.



HERE is what happened.... I was charged out of pocket amount for composite fillings the previous day. When confronted, Jody receptionist said I misunderstood. I did not misunderstand because I was upset about it and even posted it to Facebook as I was in the dentist chair. I even called my husband. My husband came in. Entire staff involved-receptionist, new dental hygienist, older dental assistant lady; all told us we WERE NOT COVERED by our insurance for COMPOSITE FILLINGS .



I couldn't believe that I wasn't covered (partially) otherwise I wouldn't have made the appointment. Since work was off due to weather I had it done anyway. I understand the difference of full coverage. I am not an idiot. I angrily went on to say that it is unprofessional to assume non coverage and I was told I would get a call back.



They called back after a few hours; the older southern woman told me I have really great dental insurance and I am the ONLY person who came in that was partially covered for composite fillings anywhere in the mouth. After telling me this, I apologized about the angry call earlier saying it was "no big deal" but I just thought a business would confirm coverage before assuming it to be otherwise.



I was then very smugly informed by the woman about the COST all of this dental work my husband had done in October before I even was married to him or lived here. She went down to every last penny that was not charged to him, and how the dentist didn't charge him for 216.xx worth of work.



She also said." remember? your husband said the money was in the bank." because I was upset with the chunk of money needed to be paid in full and how it is going to affect me. I don't have money to be tied up!!! WHAT BUSINESS MINDED PERSON SAYS THAT?????



First of all, how can this dentistry practice disclose all of his information without signed consent form? I wasn't married to him at the time! UM... Hello HIPPA!!??



The older lady (not Jody) told me to find a new dentist and I will get the refund amount in the mail. How thoughtful.
