The 50-plus branch locations in 15 contiguous counties in west central New York that make up Five Star Bank were originally four separate banking entities. These banks were Wyoming County Bank, founded in the 1850s; The Bank of Geneva, founded in 1817; Salamanca Trust Company, founded in 1881; and Bath National Bank, founded in 1912. These banks were all consolidated under one bank holding company, Financial Institutions, in 1931. Though the name of the holding company remains the same, the banking locations now operate under the name Five Star Bank. In addition to 50 locations, including one in Bath, N.Y., Five Star has a network of more than 70 ATMs. It also boasts more than $2.1 billion in assets.
