Established in 1957, Brownfields Elementary is an educational institution that offers a range of academic programs for students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. The school also provides educational programs for students with special needs. It has a library media center, as well as offers a variety of food items for lunch. Brownfields Elementary operates young astronauts and 4-h clubs. The school is a part of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, which governs several elementary, middle and high schools. The East Baton Rouge Parish School System enrolls more than 46,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The system maintains a work force over 3,400 teachers.
