The Ambrosia Bakery
8546 Siegen Ln, Baton Rouge, LA 70810
Owners Felix and Cheryl Sherman, natives of New Orleans, opened the doors at The Ambrosia Bakery on December 1, 1993. Looking back, they can truly say that a lot of things happened for a reason. Beginning as a delivery route truck driver and working his way up to branch manager, Felix learned how to successfully lead a team of people in sales and marketing. Cheryl began decorating cakes in the early 1980’s and spent some time working for others in the bakery business and gift shops. After losing his job of 27 years due to a company merger, Felix felt it was too late to start over in another job. By combining both of their talents and interests, they decided to start their own business to provide beautiful cakes and delicious desserts to the people of Baton Rouge.

Provided by YP.comTwice I came to buy lemon filled doughnuts, and twice there was no filling inside. Their deserts are wonderful, but when I want a lemon doughnut I want lemon fillings inside.

While picking up a prepaid special order, we noticed a small black insect crawling on the wall adjacent to the special order window (the species is unmistakable). The employee mumbled that she was not going to deal with that and walked away. Later a call to the manager got us the following response "there is a contract with (a major extermination service mentioned by name) for once a month and we have another call to them now." No apology, no reassurance = no understanding of the customer's perspective, value of customer loyalty, or what one expects when paying a premium for baked goods. If they want to act like a budget grocery store they should sell their business to one.
This incident has left us with the impression that Ambrosia bakery has substandard service and issues of cleanliness around food storage and preparation areas. The manager is aware of the issue and apparently feels it is for a third-party to handle at intervals of once a month or when a customer notices.

Provided by YP.comTerrible experience!!! I spent $150 on a 2 tier cake for a very special event. The bottom tier cracked more like shattered causing the entire cake to collapse. We had to scoop pieces out of the box with a spoon to eat it. So embarrassing! Then I called the manager he was extremely rude never said sorry or anything. Just said it wasn't his problem. This same thing happened to my friends cake. Do not risk this happening to you. Order from elsewhere.

Provided by YP.comLove this place, best King Cakes in the city. Showed up right at closing one day after the door was locked, manager (or owner?) glanced over and decided to let me in so I could buy a cake I was supposed to pick up that night.

Provided by YP.comWent to get a King Cake today , It was only about 1:00 and all they had was about 50 cherry and 10 strawberry King Cakes.
One would think they would have a more diverse selection. If you sell out of the popular flavors just make more of those and less of the less popular.

Provided by YP.comFantastic, top bakery in BR! Prices are high compared to other bakeries but quality is the best! They have great sammies, doughnuts, pastry, & cakes. Good to order ahead over the phone or online as the store is small & it can be really busy.

Provided by YP.comI am a HUGE fan of Ambrosia Bakery. I will drive across town just for their cookies! EVERYTHING I have ever had from Ambrosia (petit fours, Strawberry Cake, Red Velvet Cake, Doberge, cookies...you name it) has been to die for. I will highly reccomend Ambrosia not only for taste, but for quality and service as well.
