I was quite hesitant to go to a chiropractor because before my retirement, I was a trial attorney defending and prosecuting several chiropractors for malpractice because they caused permanent injury to one of their clients. In fact, when the jury was present, I made sure to never call the chiropractor "doctor" on the stand, but "Mr." (so the jury would not consider him a "real doctor"). I was recommended to see Mary by a woman I knew that was just OCD in researching absolutely everything, from contractors, to plumbers, doctors, etc. She would know more about the person that he or she might even remember of their own history. It was only because of her that I decided to try Mary for my back pain, specifying that I most definitely did not want her to touch my neck or top of the spinal column (that's where you get the paralysis problems). In any event, she had this thing called a COX table, (you can look it up on the internet). It is a table you lay on and the portion near your ankles stretches out perhaps an 1/8 of an inch. You need special training to get this certificate in the COX technique. At the time I was going to her, (quite a long time ago since my insurance no longer covers it,) she was only one of three people in the entire state is NJ that completed this course after she received her degree in chiropractic degree. I recently checked and found that there are now well over 30 chiropractors that have this special extra license in NJ. She was one of the first chiropractors in the state to get this advanced degree which shows her forward thinking attitude. She has limited hours during the week, so make CERTAIN you call to find out the hours she will be open that week. Although I no longer go to her, I have the honor of calling her my friend. As an aside, she is a very special and giving person that spends hours a week organizing clothes or food drives for the homeless, unwed mothers, those families devasted by a fire and left homeless. She also serves on various charity boards. She is a Bayonne native who knows just about everyone. You can ask her what plumber to use, where to get some assistance from City Hall - she can give you the name to call, etc. She is a fascinating woman with a good heart. It is rare to find this. I consider myself very lucky to have met her and still be in contact with her. And by the way, I introduces her as Doctor Mary Beales.
