Provided by Superpageslet me preface this with my background I am a marine diesel mechanic with certifications from MTU, CAT, MAN, Cummins and Yanmar I currently work as a cnc machine technician so I know a thing or two about engines and tolerances. I took a small 2 cylinder head from off of a kubota engine that I am doing a quick and dirty re-ring job on just to get me through the rest of boating season (it is the aux engine for a sailboat) if I get ten hours out of this thing I will be happy putting in new motor next year. So I brought in the head to have the valves and seats ground. The old man (owner)? starts talking to me like I dont know anything and tells me that its going to need to be decked and that he can "see that it is warped" I told him not to deck it just grind the valves and seats then he tells me its going to need new guides and seats. All this without ever taking it apart and in a room with almost no light and the biggest disaster area of a shop I have ever been in. The he asked me what my budget was I told him my "budget is to have the valves and seats ground, if you find anything else really major let me have a look at it. if just grinding the valves its going to be over $150 don't worry about it I will go somewhere else." at this point he picks up my head and kind of shoves it at me and says good luck. If you know anything about valve grinding this would take a skilled person at a properly set up valve grinding station less than a half hour to do a single angle grind on 4 valves and seats. If I would have said my budget is $500 I am almost sure the total bill would have been $550. after seeing how much of a disaster his shop was I would not recommend anyone take anything there it will probably get lost or destroyed and if you do not really know what your talking about he is going to try to rip you off, and if you do know your stuff he probably will not do the work because he cant rip you off.

Provided by SuperpagesI would not use this shop if you need your engine any time soon! my engine has been at this shop for over a year! my first mistake was to pay in advance for a complete rebuild, expecting the engine to be returned to within two months. Well I heard every excuse from jacks heart trouble ,to it has been so busy ,he has had time to finish my engine. I will bet a fair sum no one else has already payed for their engine work if you do not mind be lied to and in no hurry for your engine project ,then this is the machine shop for you!!!!! he will act like a kindly grandfather then his true self stats to show! this is a warning!! be very wary of jack and his business! I hope this does not happen to you! good luck you will need it
