Alyson’s Place, JFSA’s new primary care medical clinic, represents a major step forward in client care and gives JFSA clients access to affordable quality healthcare services conveniently located in the Drost Family Center. The clinic is staffed by a primary care physician and advanced nurse practitioner. In addition to working with JFSA clients, the nurse practitioner consults with other JFSA staff regarding best practices and treatment guidelines in screening and managing a client’s physical health conditions and review challenging and complex cases. Clients are able to access all the services typically available from a physician’s office, such as a variety of lab tests, well patient visits, immunizations, EKG, etc. Individuals have access by referral to specialty services within the University Hospitals health system, if needed. Care is also coordinated through JFSA’s electronic medical health record system. Thanks to our new medical clinic, JFSA clients and their families benefit from improved care coordination, reduced hospital admissions and re-admissions, lower rates of hospital emergency department use, and reduced healthcare costs.
