My wife and I rented a slip for our boat at Olde Towne Yacht Club, one of the most expensive slips in eastern NC. When we had guests come visit during the Fourth of July weekend, we gave them all passes (bracelets) to wear when at the facility. While wearing the bracelets, my entire family of guests, including two children, were extremely embarrassed when they were subject to just less than a strip search by who I found later to be the “president “ of the HOA (don’t recall the name, an obese, arrogant, white-haired fellow). My friends were awaiting my arrival with dinner for the evening, in the lounge (supposedly open to all residents and guests) following a very severe storm had hit (7-1-12). This reflects very badly upon those who allow this type of “shakedown”, and surely must also negatively affect the Club itself. We will be leaving as soon as possible, with very bad reviews for anyone in our boating community (Oriental, New Bern, Charleston, Hilton Head, and St. Simon’s Island).

To top things off, after returning from work and finding the bathrooms extremely nasty for the second day in a row (during the week- poor Sharon!), we discovered the reason. Apparently, Mr. President sees no problem allowing what appears to be Illegal, un-documented, and very ill informed in the ways of social hygiene, construction workers to abuse our facilities. I noticed NONE of them had passes or bracelets. When I asked Mr. President about the situation, he just had an arrogant chuckle and walked off (I am guessing to count the money he saved by NOT hiring tax-paying Americans to do the job). That is another subject, which I plan to thoroughly investigate, as I am sure the IRS, ICE, and the North Carolina Department of Revenue will be very interested in.

It is a shame such a beautiful place can be ruined by such an ugly person/people.
