Terrible for toddlers. Terrible parking.

Here, they're adamant about having the kids warm up on the main gymnastics floor before bringing them into a toddler room where they essentially walk a balance beam 2 inches off the floor, pull hula hoops over their bodies, and try to lift themselves off the ground by grabbing a bar a few inches over their heads. I get the need to teach warm up, but I don't know how necessary it was at this age and for these simple activities.

Anyway, my 3-year-old daughter wants to go to this toddler room, so she has to do the warm up on the main floor. The problem is that all of the noise and activity on the main floor freaks her out, and the warm up is on one of those spring platforms that goes up and down and bangs when jumped on. This really freaks her out, so she clings to me crying rather than participate. So then after warm up, we all go upstairs to the toddler room and the instructor COLDLY says she can't come in because she didn't warm up.

My daughter was devastated and I was furious. She was had only just turned 3 and I think time in the toddler room would have made her happy and more comfortable for the next warm up. How do you kick a willing and excited 3 year old out of a class? We tried one more time, same result, so I stopped taking her. The worst part is that she thinks she can't do it, like it's her fault, which breaks my heart.

The OGA folks have zero concept of how a toddler's mind works and how relatively unsocialized and fragile they are. Kids this young need to feel welcomed and encouraged, not shamed and left behind. Shameful.

This gym has everything, my daughter loves it! I honestly cannot see how anyone could rate them a one. As for the review about them doing a play with a plane crash and survivors...I'm sure it was age appropriate and kids need to be exposed to real life experiences at some point. Otherwise, they won't be able to handle anything unpleasant later on! Also, it was about plane crash survivors...right?

The post of 2/23/12 was way off base. Sounds like someone from another gym. I think OGA is great.

The best programs! And a non-profit!

OGA has the largest gym in the state. My kids have been attending the parents night outs and summer camps for three years now . . . they love it! My oldest son has made it onto the boys team. I trust the coaches to help my son excel in a positive and competitive environment.

My friend recently enrolled her daughter - who's on the autism spectrum - in the special needs program at OGA. She said there have been incredible improvements already. The constant pressure of the bars satiates her sensory seeking needs.

Gymnastics for all children

My nephew has been at OGA for three years now, starting as a 4 year old. He loves the activities and learning new skills. My sister loves that he sleeps easy the nights after class. My niece is on the Autism Spectrum. She has sensory processing issues. My sister enrolled my niece in OGA's All Stars special needs gymnastics program nine months ago. It is perfect. All the equipment is perfect for her sensory needs; she loves the trampolines! Also, the constant pressure of the bars satiates her sensory seeking needs. Gymnastics is a fantastic sport, developing a strong athletic base for any future activity.
