AAA towed me here when I broke down on the Long Island Expressway. The place looked clean, orderly and friendly so I decided to leave the car for service. I had overheated to the point where the check engine light came on and a radiator hose blew. I thought I blew the head gasket so I asked the station to check it out and also look at my master cylinder to my clutch as I thought it was going. (I replaced the slave cylinder myself but still had trouble shifting.) To make a long story short: to check out the "check engine" light, replace 2 gallons of antifreeze, oil change, 6 spark plugs (claimed to have melted and reason for check engine light) and replace the master cylinder was a WHOPPING $1432. I realize the every business needs to make a profit, but boy was I robbed. Every charge for a part was triple of retail: $30 per plug, $56 for a THERMOSTAT, $272 for a master cylinder. I called Nissan myself to inquire about the price of a BRAND new master cylinder - they would charge me $103. It was $30 for antifreeze and $10.50 for brake fluid and $5.25 for brake cleaner (what is that for???) I was nickel and dimed to death - another $7.50 to "top off fluids" - hey wait a minute, didn't you just charge me for that???? The only reasonable charge was for an oil change $19.95....I guess they started to feel a LITTLE guilty? Absolutely NOT the place to go. How this place can be AAA rated is beyond me.
