Founded in 1958, Memorial Hospital is a 315-plus-bed medical care facility that provides a range of inpatient and outpatient services. It is an independently owned and operated facility that has a staff of more than 300 physicians. The hospital is one of the largest providers of surgical, diagnostic imaging, and physical therapy and rehabilitation services in Illinois. Memorial Hospital s emergency department serves over 50,000 patients annually. The hospital also operates a 100-plus-bed skilled nursing rehabilitation facility. It is accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program and licensed by the State of Illinois Department of Public Health. The hospital maintains advanced interventional pain, breast health and cancer treatment centers. Memorial Hospital is owned by the Protestant Memorial Medical Center, which is a community-based, nonprofit corporation.
