Daylight Properties owns mixed use buildings in downtown Bellingham. We maintain and improve historic buildings and believe they are vital cultural monuments. We love historic buildings! It is our passion. At Daylight Properties, we have extensive experience in uncovering natural wood, brick, iron columns and old growth timbers.
We offer some of the most affordable housing in the city. Daylight Properties is managed by its owners, not by a third party management agency. Because of this we can avoid many of the problems that arise from the disassociation between an owner and tenant.
Mission Statement – To enhance the economic vitality of downtown Bellingham by preserving and restoring historic properties and providing clients with unique and affordable commercial and residential spaces to lease.
Philosophy – Healthy buildings have good tenants. Good tenants want to live in a safe and peaceful environment. Daylight Properties strives to provide these amenities so it can maintain healthy buildings.

Provided by YP.comAs a tenant in the Herald Building (owned by Daylight), I have been nothing but pleased with Daylight and their people. They prepared our space beautifully before move in, have worked tirelessly to fix any issues after move in, and their staff is great, from the maintenance crew to the cleaning crew, to Jena in the main office. They are great people who want the best for their tenants.

Provided by YP.comAs my company grew, Daylight properties was right along side me. I grew and shrank with the economy and they offered me any help I needed.

Provided by YP.comBe very careful dealing with this company. My experience: the management is irresponsible, and unresponsive when called upon to take care of simple routine safety concerns. When I asked to speak to upper management I was surprised to be met with a volatile person who was not interested in solving problems but only deflecting issues and becoming unnecessarily litigious.
The company appears as if it is well-wedged in the community, but in fact, later I found out has a very bad reputation to people who live here.
The locations are downtown, but the value is not good. The company, I feel is doing a disservice to the community by representing historic buildings (most of which seem vacant) and by renting to low-income individuals who's health and safety is put at risk by ill maintained conditions. This does not help their quality of life and as a result, does not help our community's economy.
Daylight Properties’ goal is to enhance the economic vitality of downtown Bellingham by preserving and restoring historic properties and providing clients with unique and affordable commercial and residential spaces to lease. We work hard to have no vacancies and create long term tenants that allow our community to thrive. Many of our properties are affordable and provide many downtown businesses with clients, customers, and even potential employees for these businesses.

Provided by YP.comWhile I am sure that this property management company sticks to the letter of the law, my experience with them has been that they are very hard to deal with, and that they are specifically looking for inexperienced renters so they can extract as much money as possible from their clients. Look at their "forms" page to see what I mean. All of their agreements are HEAVILY slanted in favor of the company and are very punitive for renters. (Heads I win tails you loose is the name of this game.)
The apartments are in adequate condition, and are downtown, so that is a plus for many people, but if you don't happen to have a lawyer on retainer this might turn out to be substantially more expensive housing than you expect.
Parents who are co-signing for minors, please use extreme caution.
Mary, We are always happy to go over any/all information that is presented to potential tenants. We do have many tenants that are renting for the first time. That is not a reflection of our marketing methods or rental criteria by any means. As you have stated the properties that we manage are downtown that that can attract many tenants that are looking to live in the heart of downtown Bellingham. As stated before our policy in regards to and lease signing or documentation is to have a mutual understanding of the agreements. We welcome any questions about our forms and can share that information with any current or potential tenant.

Provided by YP.comI do. I moved into the Windsor building #301 on North State Street in Bellingham. It was September and there was a vacant space below us. It was great. And then The Plan B Saloon opened on New Year's Eve and my room mate and I haven't been able to sleep before they close since. It's now July. We tried working with the bar for months and got no where in spite of the owners telling us they were stopping all DJs and live shows - which didn't happen. The first time I spoke to Kerri Maxwell about the issue she ignored me and kept saying "write it down, I'll throw it in the pile" when I mentioned it was impossible to sleep and we were concerned about hearing loss considering our unit had been measured at 85db+ consistently. That was in April. This is still very much a problem. Our lease isn't up until the end of August. Rent from Daylight Properties at your own risk. Oh, I'd forgotten about the repair request we'd submitted. Yeah, to the best of our knowledge no one ever showed up for it. It's still broken. If you want your property manager to be rude to you, ignore your repair requests and leave you to live in a hellish sleep deprived limbo they're just what you're looking for.
Although this review was written some time ago, we feel it is still important to address this concern of our former tenant. Living downtown and above businesses can come with some noise transference. Daylight Properties does it’s best to find good tenants (both residential and commercial) that can work together. We have made improvements on many of our buildings to minimize noise transference from neighboring units. Although there will still be some of the noise still, we always encourage our tenants to bring any and all concerns to our office’s attention.
