Buyer Beware

Precision Home Concepts left us high and dry after they collected $39,000 and nothing finished. They installed $10,000 worth of tile that had to be torn out. The shower was not waterproofed. The valves were also put in backwards. The tile over my fireplace on a 19' tall wall was not tied in and had to be torn down. The tile in the hearth had to be town down as well as the frame was barely attached to the wall. They also provided a false insurance contract where they changed the dates. They cost us approximately $50,000.

General Contractor: Precision Home ConceptsWe moved to the KC area in December 2015 and when we purchased our home, we knew we wanted to do a few renovations, but we didn't know quite yet who the good contractors were in North KC. We spent a year deciding exactly what we wanted done first and then began to look for contractors to do a few projects including a master bathroom remodel and two fireplace remodels. We met with and obtained bids from 3 contractors and decided to go with Precision Home Concepts. They were not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but somewhere in the middle. They proclaimed they did precision work, showed us pictures of another bathroom remodel they'd done and provided us a certificate of insurance. The initial contract was signed on January 2, 2017 and the contract stated the projects would start on January 9, 2017 and take approximately six weeks. There were a few change orders issued during the process, but in the end after approximately 16 weeks and the initial contract and change orders were paid in full, none of the projects were near completion and our house was still torn apart. We asked Kris Kohrs, the owner of Precision, what needed to be done to wrap things up. He said he was sending out another company to bid out all remaining tile work, which he did and led us to believe they would be coming out on late April. We called that company a week later to confirm their arrival time and they stated they had never been hired and were not coming to our home.Around this same time, we received an invoice from the countertop supplier for bathroom countertops and bench in the shower, which had not been paid by Precision even though we had paid Precision for the countertops. We knew we had been scammed when we received a call from the shower door company regarding delivery and we suggested they check with the contractor regarding planned delivery. They responded that they understood we had parted ways with Kris. This was news to us, as we were not told this and our house was left in shambles.Numerous bids have come in and it will cost approximately $60,000 to finish what Precision Home Concepts screwed up. The recent general contractors felt for us and said contractors like Precision is what gives this industry a poor name. They couldn't believe how he didn't tie in our tile on a 19 foot wall, how he didn't waterproof our shower, how they couldn't make a wall smooth or that they used the cheapest paint on our cabinetry and the list goes on and on...It's now 13 months later and we have finally gotten to a place financially to get our home in order from the way Precision Home Concepts left it...DESTROYED.At the end of the day, we are out a lot of time and money and have a house that is still torn apart. We hope that Precision Home Concepts will be prevented from scamming anyone else in the future in the KC area by everyone sharing this post.*** HE'LL SHOW YOU A GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE LICENSE THAT EXPIRED IN JUNE OF 2016, BUT HE CHANGED THE DATES ***
