Dinner on the lake, great place and the waitress we had was taking care of a party of 30 plus and was always taking care of us! Food was wonderful and the view was so great! We really enjoyed the place!

Cursed by waitress

I purchased tickets to the Crawfish Festival at Dead Fish Grill expecting all you can eat crawfish for $15... what a deal!!!... I along with my family, 5 adults and 1 small child total, at 3 pm and waited an hour for seating. We were told it started at 3 as was printed on the ticket but was shocked to find people finishing up by this time. Our waitress started us out with the usual drink orders which took 30 minutes to fill. As the drinks found their way to our table so did the half pound of crawfish per person with over a pound of sausage and potatoes. I asked her to place another order as we would quickly finish this small portion of mud bugs to which I was told there was a 20 to 30 minute wait for each order. The next portion came out at around the 30 minute mark (almost 2 hours total at this point) and I was told if I wanted them any quicker I could wait in line with her which I did. While in line the waitress found it fitting and appropriate to curse me out to the cook. "Get this F*&^ing man some food... He is so God D**n impatient. Oh and get his F***ing seasoning too." The chef who I won't mention by name was very respectful and professional in deescalating this tense ordeal by separating us. As I go back to the table I find all the drinks are empty and no one will fill them. I made my way to the bar and the closest hostess stand to remedy this situation. On my third trip to the serving line I find that my time was wasted in vain as they have ran out of the "catch of the day" fresh crawfish. I was told that arrangements would be made to make sure no one left hungry or dissatisfied. I asked for a menu and was told that by now I should be full by our lovely waitress. I explained I had every intention of eating my fill of crustacean. I ordered the oyster dinner and asked to speak to a manager regarding the price given I had paid $15 for a meal which was not delivered as promised. She agreed to find him for me to no avail. I found the manager myself and explained the situation to which he was genuinely appalled. He asked for the check from the waitress to which she refused and told him in very blunt and rude word that I had my "fair share" and that she would not allow any discounts. The manager ALLOWED this behavior in front of my family and the entire restaurant. I will never under any circumstances return to this place other than to make sure she gets fired. I do not know her name as she refused to give it to me. She has dyed red hair and stands about 5'3" if that helps you to narrow it down. If she is your waitress don't walk out RUN!!! I am currently waiting on a call from the GM to which I was promised an hour ago. This place and this event were horribly mismanaged and the wait staff is atrocious. Spend your money elsewhere. Burn it and you will feel a greater sense of satisfaction. I have never been treated this badly by anyone

They have a tendency to serve some of the fried food cold. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is nice on the lake. The live music is a nice touch but you can't understand the words. They seemed willing to work through some of the issues to a minimal standard. Need more management involvement in final output.

Value

It was a great place to take my girl out for a first day, she loved the water in the background and the amount of food we recived made me happy. When dessert came out we couldn't believe not only how much we got but how good it looked.

PS

Our first time there and is was just ok. We had to ask for the biscuits that are supposed to come with dinner. The server said, " We don't have very many so you have to ask for them." They were pretty bad, but if you put enough butter on them you couldn't taste it. My fish was not cooked in the middle, my husbands steak was tough. I asked for a tea to go and was told, " Well, we don't have any lids, sooo", I said "Sooo, don't fill it all the way. I felt the server did not want to give me a tea to go. We are not sure we would go back. Unless we just have a burger, you can't mess that up, can you?

Best Party Ever

We had our 45th High School Reunion at the Dead Fish. It was great. The food that they served for the buffet was very very good. We had a private room with entertainment. There was more than enough of everything and the service was wonderful. Huge shrimp and fried catfish with all of the trimmings. My wife and I had dinner there the next day and it was even better. The prices are mid range but the value is top notch.

Great Atmosphere - Lousy food

What does chicken fried Deer, Sweet hamburger rolls and gut wrenching ruined Pecan smoked steak have in common? Answer: nothing, but that is what they serve at the Dead Fish Grill. In all fairness I think someone finally wised up and took the venison off the menu.Just save space here, the food sucks. I cannot believe someone would ruin a perfectly good cut of meat with that awful Pecan rub they use, it is horrible. You cannot even get a plain old hamburger here, they use some weird sweet roll for a hamburger bun. Seafoood should be pretty simple now days but they manaage to fry to a consistency of leather. Apparently their deep fryer is stuck on "burnt".Now on the good side, it is worth going to the Dead Fish because it is Belton and there is no other place to go.The drinks are reasonably priced, the mixed drinks are good and the service is decent. They usually have a one man band playing a guitar or saxaphone that is ok too.It is just a shame because the location is perefect, the atmos

Three for Dinner

Chicken fried steak dinner - good. Filet Mignon as well as Large Pork Chop dinners - terrible. Both were burned, dry and overseasoned; probably to cover up the cooking. Both orders were not met and server served salad with meal, because regular salad servers screwed up. All in all, nice view; lousy food and service.

Margaritaville comes to Belton Lake!!

Service - Very good wait staff, the servers that waited on us was very nice and attentive. ###The Place - Great atmosphere and live musice (usually on the weekends)###The View - The restaurant sits on a cliff overlooking Belton Lake, if you are not from here - ### IT IS WORTH THE DRIVE###The Food - We were under the impression that this would be a seafood place but they have a little of everything - seafood, bbq, steaks, mexican, etc. etc.
