Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School is an exemplary school that offers a variety of educational services to students in grades seven and eight. Its academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as English, physical education, music, mathematics, social studies and science. The school s parent-teacher association supports various programs and provides new books for the library and other materials for teachers and students. It offers a positive behavioral intervention and support program that uses data to enhance the capacity of schools to educate all students, especially those with challenging social behaviors. The school s Upward Bound Program provides academic support and career counseling to students from low-income families in an effort to overcome economic, social and cultural barriers that obstruct the pursuit of higher education. It is administered by Prince George's County Public Schools and is located in Beltsville, Md.
