Provided by YP.comWas researching fishing guides for Kentucky Lake and even though their family-run website is a little out of date, the reviews were encouraging, and the prices were in line with other guides.
Called Captain Kirk and we set up two days of fishing about a month out. The week of he called me to confirm and give me specifics on where and when to meet.
We met at Fast Eddie’s, 8492 US-68 Benton, KY, 42025, at 6 AM. Stocked up on food and bait and we were on the lake by 6:40 AM.
There was a bass tournament going on but didn’t affect us. I caught a big small mouth bass in the first half hour and turns out that I did better than 50% of the tournament contestants. Spent the day in a few spots and we caught blue gill, yellow bass, and catfish. Great weather, sunny and breezy.
Day two was the same but we caught some crappie. Got really warm so make sure to bring sunscreen and bug spray.
The whole trip was enjoyable because Captain Kirk had everything set up and ready to go. His boat was nice and very steady, so if you want to stand and fish it was easy. When we decided to fish top water, he pulled up a pole that was ready to go. Drop fishing, pulled up different pole. Trolling another pole. When I was feeling lazy, he’d bait the hooks for me. Or when I tried to cast under the dock like those TV pros and threw the lure over the dock, between poles, and over the walkway, he expertly got it all back. At the beginning I was getting loose line wrapped around the reel and he showed me how to easily prevent it. When we were done for the day, he quickly filleted all the fish and bagged them up. (Have a large cooler to store your fish with ice. I probably ended up with about 20+ pounds of fillets.)
The people at the marinas knew Captain Kirk and gave me a positive impression about him.
Really, all I had to do was show up, get in the boat, fish, collect my fillets and repeat. I had a lot of fun, and we took pictures that had my family and friends impressed.

Provided by YP.comMy family age 3 to 70 plus has fished with Kirk for over a decade. Never had a bad trip. Always caught fish even under the worst weather conditions. Best on the lake in my opinion and I have used other guides in the past.
