I based my selection of cyclone air systems from my experiences of selecting services from Yelp; based on reviews and usually interviewing 3-5 different companies and to ask questions of methods, etc. Also listening to their explanations. I have done my share of thorough Yelp! reviews, which others have relied on, and also resulted in providing/adding their personal opinion on Yelp. I think the majority of reviews on businesses speak for themselves. I notice the very few disgruntled reviewers have never Yelp!-reviewed contractors or home service companies before. Or understand that distance between the wall vent opening to the outdoor hood or flue differs in homes. Some are short distances. Others can be a longer run for ducting to be cleaned out. Including bends or to another home level. A reason cleaning times can vary. I did call 5 different companies for methods used and estimates/quotes. I live in a small 23 y.o. homeowners association (HOA) in San Francisco, comprised of 8 homes. I usually do the research, interviewing and selection of a company for providing their specialized services. Contractors in their area of expertise or reputable general contractors. I called all 5 vent cleaning companies on my list, including the one our HOA has used several times. But decided, from experience and hearing of methods used by the other companies, to go with cyclone air systems. I spoke with Mario, the co-owner, and he explained his company's method for clothes dryer vent cleaning. They use 2-types of brushes: a harder brush to release build-up at 90 degree bends; and a softer brush as a finishing clean. They start from inside of a home. If they are not satisfied, they also go to the roof and brush clean/vacuum the vent ducting. Trying to sync schedules with residents at home, at the same time, was the most difficult. But Mario understood from experience with HOA's. They do work weekends, the same time many customers request their service, because it's the only availability for working folks. So customers should understand to schedule weekend requests further in advance than weekdays. Mario and co-owner, Jose, came out. And Jose's bilingual skills came in handy for one home. What they noticed about all 8 homes, was that the vent tubing (sleeve) within the walls are all flex type and soft. Not rigid galvanized-type. So they preferred, in our HOA case, to use the soft brush to clean those out. A hard brush could tear the soft flex tubing (sleeve and ducting) within the wall. He said any damage to the flex tubing inside the walls could result in opening the walls to repair or replace. Something no homeowner would want to go through or the associated expense. Mario worked from the inside of homes, with the dryers turned on, monitoring the accumulation of lint and total clean out, during the process. And, at the same time, Jose on the roof end with the soft brush. They communicated to one another, sometimes by cell/mobile device, whether or not Jose had to continue or verify all was cleaned out. They had to take the caps off the roof flues to do that for the lint to escape. Lots of lint came out. Mine was the worst. Then afterward, re-anchored the caps. Never done by the previous vent cleaner. Nor those options offered. Mario and Jose were very attentive to avoid problems. Mario noticed one home's clothes dryer wall vent opening/mouth was missing the wall collar. The flex duct run from the dryer to the wall was just taped and loose. Mario tightly secured the connection and recommended that the owner have a proper collar at the opening installed. Mario and Jose were friendly, knowledgeable, thorough and professional. And they gave a group discount for our 8 homes. Which resulted in a 34% savings off the individual price normally charged per home. Slightly higher than the original vent cleaning company we used; only by about $18 total difference for all 8 homes. So not much more and a better thorough and attentive job. I highly recommend

I had noticed our dryer doesn'...

I had noticed our dryer doesn't ventilate properly outside which of course freaked me out. I googled dryer venting and had a heart attack when I realized how bad it was. STOP THE DRYER NOW!!!!!! I'm surprised we're not dead!

I had our property manager send out the "handy" people and really all we could do was use a stupid little dryer vent kit. Ugh, won't stop the steamy room when we run the dryer. Plus the fact that dryer lint is highly flammable and could potentially burn down our apartment building scared me. I didn't get the feeling he was ready to hire professionals to do the job of cleaning out the dryer, so I took matters into my own hands.

Between roommates coming and going, I rang this place up this morning to get a price estimate. He said he could do it today (yay!) and could arrive between 1-4pm. Sweet.

Flavio came over and showed me how he was planning on blowing out all the lint. Ha, he used some type of sock/hosiery to contain the lint coming out because otherwise, that stuff would have made a big freakin' linty mess! He recommended I switch to a spiral-wound aluminum flex hose he had on hand because the white vinyl hose we had currently attached could easily catch on fire with the heat from the dryer. I'll take it!!

Once he was finished, he attached the new hose to the little venting kit and it took less than 30 minutes.

Yay no more being paranoid about the dryer catching on fire!

I was super happy they were able to come over last minute and clean out the dryer vent. The price I paid was nothing compared to a fire starting. Your dryer starting a fire may be the last thing you ever think about, but when you think about the consequences of spending a little cash to save your home and potentiality a life, it's worth it. Now put that on your to-do list asap!

Well, we weren't sure about wh...

Well, we weren't sure about what to do when our wall furnace finally conked out. I called several places and searched the internet for advice and basically found out that replacing this unit would be costly and repairing it a more dubious endeavor. After spending many hours trying to get more educated about these furnaces, I knew I wanted someone to come out and give me a knowledgeable assessment about it.

Was looking for the same thing. People who take pride in their work and will be honest with you. Manny, was prompt and timely. After discussing the potential issues that could come up with venting a new furnace, he was willing to further explore possibly fixing the unit. Parts needed to be replaced and with the original manufacturer of the furnace no longer existing, we were all dubious.

Cyclone was game to find parts that would work. About an hour or so later he called to say that he had in fact found some. Later that afternoon, he returned and the furnace is working great! Mario said the old cylinders were in good shape and everything was to code.

We could hardly believe it and we saved a bundle. We enjoy the idea that a bunch of metal didn't have to go into the waste stream. Flavio is straightforward and thorough. Thank you Mario
