I am so excited this studio opened! Kristin "Kiki" Lovelace (formerly known as Goldsmith) has been my yoga teacher for about a year and has somehow gotten me to actually love yoga (even though I still can't believe I'm saying/typing that out loud).

Let me qualify: Two years ago I started going to yoga only because I was beaten into it by sports injuries. I tried numerous studios but always found myself completely uncomfortable. But it helped, so I kept going.

After I threw out my back (another qualification, I am 26 and have been active my whole life), a chiropractor I went to suggested Seventh Heaven Yoga. Willing to try almost anything, I went to a couple classes and found myself in Kiki's Forrest Yoga class.

Kiki's classes were amazing for me during my very reluctant yogi days and now because of the incredibly accepting atmosphere. I feel completely okay being someone who was and is still often uncomfortable in class. Even more helpful, she would vocalize resistances I was often having, which made me feel less like an outsider and more like I was in a place where I could start to feel safe in dealing with physical injuries I'd been struggling with for quite a while. No matter how large her classes get, she does a remarkable job paying attention to each student.

I can't recommend Kiki's classes enough; they really have changed my life. And now the atmosphere that was in Kiki's classes is totally in her new studio (which, as a side note, is a really beautiful space). I haven't gotten a chance to check out all the teachers, but from what I can tell they are all committed to help students at all levels.

It's definitely not the kind of studio where you feel out of place if you're not wearing the right yoga pants or can't do a pose. (Or maybe that's just how I've felt at some other studios). Instead, Innerstellar really is a safe learning environment where I can fall over in warrior one and laugh about it. Which is saying a lot, because I'm Dutch, a people who live in a country that should be underwater.
