Provided by YP.comI will agree with all the good comments. I've eaten there on and off for years. I notice for the most part that the food tastes very much the same from Czech place to Czech place. The dumplings are always from Josies on 39Th and Oak Park in Stickney, IL and that is not bad. The fruit dumplings are from there as well. I buy them there myself from the frozen section. I suspect that most of the food is already cooked and brought in frozen. Again, not a bad thing. The only item on any of the Czech menus that will vary is the saur kraut. Some is better than others. Riverside Restaurant, Little Europe, Westchester Restauant are more or less the same and nice places to eat. There are a few others in the area and again, much the same, but still very good. The duck is very good and prepared quickly because it is deep fried and not baked. All that fat turns me off, but I still eat it once in a while because it is that good. Try making this food at home and it will make preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal seem like child's play. Still, a very good value meal.

Provided by YP.comMy Great Aunts have taken me here many times and I have never heard of anyone I have sent here being disappointed either. You will never go wrong eating here. Great Service, Huge portions, and unbelievable prices. Be sure to try the liver dumpling soup, and cucumber slaw. You will definately never leave hungry, let alone you will have a meal for the next day.

Provided by YP.comDo you long for the taste of old world cooking? Have you been planning a trip to Eastern Europe? You will find it here. It may be small in size but is large on value. Nothing flashy on the outside, but walk inside to a casual slovakian home atmosphere. The waitstaff is attentive and all are from eastern europe. The rye bread is just the right appetizer for a generous meal which includes soup, choice of potatoes, noodles or dumplings, choice of vegetable, and desert. I simply love anything in their dill gravy wether its meatballs, meatloaf or Koprova (sliced beef). This gravy is addictive slightly sweet thick white gravy with dill for a refreshing kick. All the meats are cooked till they fall apart at the sight of a fork. The sweet and sour cabbage is the side to request even if you hate cabbage you will love this. It's diffinitely not low fat or low carb just meat potatoes and gravy stick to your bones food. Me and my family have tried everything on the menu and have never had a bad meal or gone home without a doggy bag. If the food is'nt enough for you, when was the last time you went out with 4 adults and only spent $35.00 including tip?
I hope you like to eat early. They cook enough food for the day and when it's gone they close. So get there before 6:00pm because everyone is usually gone by 8:00pm.
