TERRIBLE Service – Mediocre Selection – Don’t Waste Your Time



I don’t write this lightly – I’m more inclined to take the time to praise a business or employee than to complain. I figure maybe the person I dealt with was just having a bad day.



But I’ve been to Carpet Palace 3 times in 6 years – twice with friends, once alone. Every time the salesmen were creepy beyond belief. The apparent manager (owner?) is the worst – refused to take rugs down to show us, didn’t want to help my friend load a rug into her car, was just incredibly obnoxious if anyone asked a question. He actually told one of us he has plenty of business and doesn’t need more!



I thought maybe it was just not-wealthy women he didn’t like – maybe he treated me like spit because I don’t have a lot to spend? But a friend of mine bought a 10,000 square foot house, she’s trying to furnish it quick, and she adores orientals. So she stopped by Carpet Palace with her designer; they got the same creepy vibe. (Not real smart of the CP manager – since I know for a fact she just bought a living room rug for over 40k.)



Anyway, friends and neighbors talk – and I’ve learned that a LOT of women have had really bad experiences there. I also talked to two designers -- one of whom is VERY well known. They just laughed and said there are plenty of places around Maryland and Virginia with far better selections and prices -- and great service too.



So I’d advise - buy where they care. The management of Carpet Palace clearly does not.
