Great little store, big selection!

Just visiting town, needed something to do after finishing up work.

Decided to swing by Midwest Trains, as I hadn't been in a train store for years.

I found a very large selection, and the entire store devoted to model trains. Not like many other stores that have a bit of everything taking up space. All space is taken up by model train stuff, as it should be.

I thought the prices were very reasonable, and really think anymore that something as precise and expensive as a locomotive needs to be visually examined before purchase. I personally have a problem buying things like this on the internet, even though the cost (at least initially) is less. Had my train set been set up in the last ten years, I certainly would have walked out with a locomotive. Such precision and power in a little object!!

The staff was very nice and helpful, and did mention that they could return products that might turn up defective...I expect you wouldn't get so much help from someplace online, especially for "free". This store really deserves your support, and would be a fun place to take the youngsters I think...no trains set up (well, one magnetic decoupling disply, but only one button to push to make the locomotive couple/uncouple from a railcar), but lots of things that look like toys to keep their interest, while being a healthy hobby.
