Provided by YP.comLawry's is the best. They have complimentary horderves while you wait. The prime rib is carved fresh at your table side. The sides are also excellent..my favorite is the creamed spinach. Not many choices for those who cant eat meat. But this is the place for prime rib!! really great place for meat lovers. It's great, and really a great deal for the amount of food you get. My leftover meat lasts me forever.

Provided by YP.comI love prime rib. For years, I thought about going to Lawry's but, never got the chance. Then my friend extended an invitation to me the other night. The classic interior of Lawry's vastly contrasts the sleek exterior, with its parking lot of Rolls Royces, Ferraris, Hummers, and Bentleys. I expected a dark setting with modern furniture, only to find classic dark wood & oil paintings against a cream colored wall, which gave it an almost "museum-like" quality. The dining room was huge. Not sure if the chef was feeling extra generous that night but, my 10 oz. prime rib was GINORMOUS. Though, price for price, meat for meat, side dishes to side dishes, my first pick is still House of Prime Rib in San Francisco.

Provided by YP.comThis is a fun "experience" for special occasions or to take out-of-towners. The wait staff is precious; they scurry about doting on diners. It all feels very posh, bordering on stuffy. Decor-wise, I much prefer their sister restaurant, Tam-O-Shanter, in Los Feliz, which has pretty much the same prime-rib-centric menu.

Provided by YP.comThis is my favorite place to go to get prime rib. I always make a reservation so I never have to wait. Unfortunately, you can't pick you're seat' however, the food is always well prepared.

Provided by YPmobileI have been to Lawrys many times over the years. I wanted to share my experience with my roommate who had never been there before.
The service is not one of Lawrys strong points. The salad is unique in its presentation but neither I nor my friend were thrilled with the taste. The wine list even though limited had a few nice wines one of which we had and were very surprised that for a restaurant it was not as highly marked up as most restaurants that charge 3 or 4 times the price you can buy it for. We had the Honig 2011 Cabarnet which was full bodied and left a nice after taste in your mouth.
The way the food is served is very different. There is a huge carving table on wheels and you tell your waitress what cut of prime rib you want as well as the degree you want it cooked. In my book there is only 1 cut to get the extra thick rare cut with the bone. It is so tender it melts in your mouth. The Real horseradish is great with the aujus. They also have a creamed horseradish for those liking a milder type. The bread is good and served warm with the salad. The creamed spinach is absolutely delightful. Anyone that doesn't like spinach would eat this spinach, and wish they had more. The baked potatoes are made with the skin crunchy and the inside perfectly soft. It even has a sign on the potato saying I have been washed you can eat all of me, which I did. The other side was the Yorkshire pudding which was puffy and rich and a great accimpanament to the meat. You must put some aujus in it as we did to increase the flavor.
We had no room for dessert to eat there but took home the English trifle. What a disappointment that was.
It is made like a cake with whipped cream. After one bite we threw it away. Not the traditional Trifle they had before.
Going to Lawrys is an experience you will not forget, you will never have prime rib, nor spinach and a baked potato as good. Expect for the service, salad, and the English trifle to be a bit disappointing.
Would I go there again even though I was coming from Orange County, yes. We hired a limo so we could enjoy the wine and not worry about traffic. It was a fun night. An. Expensive night but what price can you put on great memories and outstanding prime rib, you can't.
When Lawrys was in their former location across the street they had a small gift shop. I bought a silver plated plate that said,"HEALTH, LOVE, AND WEALTH, AND TIME TO ENJOY THEM. The experience and memory of that night is pretty well summarized in that plate saying.
There is only one Lawrys the Prime rib in CA and 3 others in the US

Provided by YP.comIf you've never been here, you have to go at least once...My review is based on about 10 visits....the prime rib is consistent...they serve it how you order it and the side dishes are the same....I tend to eat too much when I go here....its not cheap, but its not that expensive considering...This place is best for groups....a bit loud and brite for intimacy...never had a bad experience here...service is always friendly and promt...( my neighbor, now retired, worked here for 20 years as a prime rib chef , with good things to say about management )...and that say something too...
