Provided by YP.comWatch out for this company. They will try to sell you a new heating unit for $5000 to $6000 when you don't need one. When I moved into my house my heater worked for a few hours then would not come on again. We called Bear Valley and they sent out a Tech. The Tech had no clue of what he was doing. He ripped the wiring out of my 5 year old unit then told me I needed a new unit. He also said he was condemning the unit and it was unsafe to stay in the house until a new unit was installed. I contacted the seller and told him the house needed a new heater. The seller (who buys and sells several houses a month in Big Bear) informed me about Bear Valley's rip off practices and how he has been told the same thing on other houses he sold. A 2nd Tech. (Scotties Heating and Plumbing) came out and within minutes (after putting back all the ripped out wiring) had my heater back on and running. It turned out a plastic part for condensation had frozen and just needed to be thawed out. No parts were replaced. I have since spoken to several people and they all tell me the same thing. Bear Valley Heating and Plumbing has a reputation for coming to your house and ripping out all the wiring then they tell you that you need a new unit.
It is sad to see a company treat its neighbors like this. In a small town like Big Bear you would think you would not have to worry about this. There are several other companies out there so I would recommend before you go with Bear Valley you ask your friends and neighbors who they would recommend. I am new to the area and thought because I saw their trucks all over town they must be a good company. I now know better.
I was charged a service fee for them to come out and rip out the wiring on my unit and then tell me I need a new unit when there was nothing wrong. I will be asking for a refund of my service fee.

Provided by YP.comDo not call these people for heating problems. I called them out for a pilot that wouldn't stay lit. After 3 visits and charging me for ~$350 worth of work replacing my thermopile. They still didn't have the problem fixed. I finally got sick of it and did some troubleshooting myself, and found out it was really the pilot assembly itself that was broken in the first place (I'm an engineer so I'm pretty decent at figuring stuff out). They wanted an additional $199 to fix the pilot in addition to the $350 of unnecessary repairs. Another heating company got involved and confirmed my troubleshooting and also found out that the thermopile BV Plumbing & Heating installed was not correctly rated to provide enough electricity to operate the valve assembly! The new heating company charged ~$200 (this included the pilot assembly + the correct thermopile + additional labor (weekend rate)
I'm not sure what their record is for plumbing work, but they sure are worthless for heating.
