Provided by YP.comThe only suggestion I would make to someone looking into using Dixie Awning is NOT to use them. The organization I work for received a grant to install awnings in our downtown area. 8 of the businesses decided to participate in this grant. Each store owner picked out the color/ material of their awning and we received a statement of the total cost of the project which equaled $25,810.00. They asked for a deposit of 50% which we sent to them in December of 2012. I had to call several times to see when they were going to begin installing the awnings. I think it was finally the end of February when they came and installed the 1st awning. When Craig got in town ( he is the son of the owner) he called and asked if I had the paper work with what measurements went to what building because he left them at the office in Birmingham and couldnt figure out what frame went where- we are 2 hours from his office. I went up there with my copies I had on file (thank goodness I had a copy!) and he had a frame for a building that didnt even qualify for the grant. We were not charged and he did not install that awning because we never signed papers or gave a deposit for that building. THEN, he asked me if he could take down a T MOBILE sign that was in the way on one of the buildings (the business was closed, but the sign which appeared to be fairly new was still up). I told him I could not give him permission, he would need to ask the owner. Well, when I left he couldnt get a hold of the owner so he took it upon himself to take ONE letter of the sign down. The owner was not please with this at all and Craig ended up taking the rest of the sign down. They would just come for a day and do a little work then not come back for weeks. Finally I asked if he could give me a work schedule. Our grant writer who works with people in Washington, DC, our City Council, the Chamber, and the store owners were all wanting to know when these awnings were going to be complete. A week later he gives me a work schedule which he ended up running 3 weeks behind. He would just not show up and not call. I would call to see where they were and would get no answer. He finally finished FOUR MONTHS after our deposit was turned in. That means it took him 2 awnings a month! And it only took him a day to put 2 building's awnings up!! Absolutely ridiculous!
As for the awnings themselves they look alright. The cloth awnings look great, but the metal awnings look absolutely TERRIBLE. We did not get the quality or service we should have gotten for the price we paid.
I also forgot to mention that everytime I talked to him he was so rude and would come up with a million reasons why this or that wasnt done on time and correctly. He was a nightmare to deal with!
